I went on Donny's Metcalf ride tonight, against my better judgment since it was sprinkling here. But Donny assured me it was sunny over on Metcalf, so I rode over. And it was sunny when we started. There were 9 cyclists total: 7 all-male "racers" and Donny and I. Donny of course stayed and rode with me each time they dropped me. And I did manage to beat one guy up Metcalf. Yea!
When we took off down the other side, I looked up at the clouds all around us and saw the Elk! They were way up at the top on the left, with the male silhouetted against the clouds. His antlers were HUGE! What an impressive sight! And of course, only Donny, myself, and one other person got to see them. Karl and the rest were already racing down the hill.
We also saw several tarantulas crossing the road, and Donny pointed out the building that his company blew up. Always a great tour guide. It didn't start to sprinkle on us until we were going down the backside back into civilization. We could see the black clouds ahead of us, and the heavy haze of rain below them. Luckily, we turned and left the hills before we got to the heavy rain. It was still sprinkling when I left the group and headed for home. And, several blocks from home it turned into real rain so I was nicely soaked when I got here. But it was worth it to see those Elk.
