Letter # 78 - June 25, 1981
From Donny To Diana
Dear Diana,
I hope you were able to arrive in Freetown as planned, and that everyone was there to meet you.
I miss you and I love you, but I am keeping busy.
On the morning after you left, after you phoned me when you reached New York, I gave myself a haircut.
I then rode my bicycle over to my mom's house and she fixed up all the rough edges on my haircut. I then rode my bicycle all day and then went back there for dinner. I rode my bicycle home that night. The next morning I waited for your phone call before you were to leave for Monrovia. I ironed all of the clean clothes and put them away.
After I got your phone call I put some water in the car and drove over to mom's house to fix the car. It took me all the rest of that day to get the water pump out of the engine. That was where the water was leaking, so I needed a new one. We all went out for dinner that day, and I slept overnight there. The next morningI bought a new water pump ($43) and then worked for another half day just putting it back in. I also moved the wheels on the car.
When I got home, finally, I put the bulletin board up on the wall. I also cleaned all of the boxes out of the kids' room.
All today I've been sewing country clothes blankets out of our country clothes (native cloth). There is enough for two blankets, one for each bed.
All for now,
Love,
Donny
PS - have fun, don't get into trouble, I miss you - Donny
