Today started with a breakfast buffet back at the lodge. We rode our bikes
there,
only to find out that both Debbie and Kim had forgotten their meal tickets
that we
were supposed to turn in, so we all rode back to camp and then back to the
Lodge.
It was decided that I would be the meal ticket caretaker for the remainder
of the tour.
The plan for today was a 50 mile out-and-back bike ride. Being that it was
a short day,
we decided to first check out everything at the Lodge. We went through the
visitor center
and then the gift shop. Debbie bought some postcards and was going to mail
them this
morning so we waited a bit for the post office to open.
It was 10:00 AM before we finally got going. We first went to Point
Imperial,
and found that even though it wasn't steep, none of us was going too fast
because of
the thin air. Point Imperial had a good view of the Grand Canyon, looking
in a different
direction than we could see from the Lodge. From here, instead of
continuing on to
another scenic point, we decided to head back to camp and then to go on a
hike.
Once back in camp I decided it would be a good time to work on my jig saw
puzzle that
I bought yesterday, and both Kim and Debbie decided that they would take a
nap. Helping
me with the puzzle was Wilson. Hiking was now out of the question. We
would just relax until
dinner. But we did hike over to the Lodge again. It didn't seem quite as
hard as yesterday.
Totals for the day were 27 miles and 1 puzzle.
Go to the next day.
