Letter # 74 - July 10, 1979People,Business first. We received the "affidavit of support" from you. I took it to the Embassy along with Diana's other papers. The man looked them over and everything appears to be okay, except --- They need a letter from Dad's employer, stating that he still works there, what he does, and how much he makes. Send this letter to : Norman Alexander, Freetown, Sierra Leone, Dept. of State, washington DC 20520. We received another letter from you this morning; the one with the pictures in it. We think that Jeffery looks exactly like Jason did at that age. We got our dates finalized now. We are to leave Sierra Leone on Sept 20 and arrive in San Francisco on Friday Sept 21, in the afternoon (3:00). Our tickets are costing about $840 each, but I'm getting enough money out of the Peace Corps to pay for everything. These few days now, both Diana and I are going through our medical examination processes, getting our shots, blood tests, xrays, etc. Diana was much better today. Usually, when they stick a needle in her, she screams and starts crying, sometimes even before they actually stick her. Today, though, I bet her 2 leones that she couldn't keep quiet during her shots, and I lost. She didn't give out a yell one time even. I then asked her if she would bet me 2 leones that I couldn't keep quiet during my shots, but she didn't agree. I went to the dentist today. He says that I have two cavities. It looks like this letter might reach you in record time. Bob Stein, my fellow volunteer, lives in Redwood City and is making an emergency trip home to see his sick brother. If you can arrange it with him, you can write us a letter and let him bring it back. He is only going to be in America for two weeks.
Love, |
