Letter # 76 - August 2, 1979

People,

It has been over two weeks since I wrote the last letter, so I guess I have to write again. We are anxious to get word from you, so that we know you have received the last letter. We need the letter from Dad's employer, stating that he works there, what his job title is, and how much he gets paid. Hopefully, that is the only thing remaining before Diana gets her immigration visa.

We both are getting over colds now (I gave mine to Diana) but are otherwise healthy. Last week, Diana and I were seperated for 6 days while I had to do some traveling concerning my work. Diana went to Freetown and waited for me there. It was the first time that we were seperated since we were married, and I think we both felt it alot. We looked sad and felt lonely while we were apart, but as soon as we met again, we both looked happy and felt good. It was an experience.

Last week, I finished casting the concrete cover slab on my well. This marked the closing out of all of the difficult work for my water supply project. We are digging the trenches in the town now, and still have to lay the pipes. Some plumbers are supposed to come for the pipe laying, so I don't have to concern myself with that.

The chief is supposedly going to give us a going away party up in Kamiendor before we go. Also, there might be a small party down in Freetown with Peace Corps.

Diana and I are both anxious to finally be able to leave. Running through all of the arrangements and red tape is also a hassle. Tomorrow, I am supposed to go shopping with Diana to buy material to make clothes for her and me and each of you. We have to get them off to a tailor so as to give him time to get them sewn before we are supposed to leave.

Love,
Donny and Diana

PS - (Aug 3) I bought plane tickets today ($900 each). We are scheduled to arrive in San Francisco on Sept 21 at 3:30 in the afternoon, with National Airlines #059 from New York.
