Bob Kane and Heather Lashbrook caught up with us in Volcano, so we all started out together. I had promised Jannene a tow up Rams Horn Grade, and so I hooked her up. This worked out good as with a tow Jannene was able to keep up with our group. At one point I was towing Jannene and pushing Heather, all at the same time, to catch back up with Bob. Good fun.

We were all hanging around at the SAG stop at the top of Fiddletown Road, then all of the fast group caught up. Fran said that she had a friend in Plymouth, and we were all invited to her house to use the pool. This was a good plan.

We stopped in Fiddletown, and took turns going down the big slide. I decided to hook up with Theresa on one time, so at the top of the slide, I had Theresa sit right behind me with her legs up around my waist. Then down we went. Wrong move!! At the bottom we both quickly found out that we were trapped together and so could not land on our feet as usual. Instead we both went off the end of the slide locked together, then dropped about 2 feet straight down landing on both of our butts. Good thing the ground was soft. I could just see the insurance accident report.

In Plymouth we all stopped at the market and got lunch to go. Then it was back the way we came to Fran's friend's house. Virginia was ready for us. She had a very nice place. Big porch all around the house, then a nice pool and water slide in the backyard. We all played in the water and ate our lunches.
Finally, it was time to again be going. I was afraid that the pool stop might eliminate our other water stop under the bridge on Latrobe Rd, but Cora and Jannene were up for it so we headed out. As we were leaving Fran's friend's house, one of the fast group had a flat, so they all stopped, but my little group kept going. We collected Bob and Heather along the way, plus one local rider just out to try to do a 100 miles today and was at 70 so far. He was Shawn and just hooked up with us as we came by.
We crossed the bridge on Latrobe Road then stopped on the other side. I told Shawn that we were all going swimming, so he decided to join us. We parked the bikes under the bridge, then went on down to the water. The Consumes River was the lowest that I've seen it, with almost no current. It was still plenty deep, and being slow the water temperature was very warm. There were 6 of us in the water, and we just didn't want to leave.
While in the water, I kept an eye out for our other riders. They finally came by, but instead of coming down under the bridge, they all decided to keep going and get on into Folsom. So I was glad that we didn't wait for that last flat tire, as this river stop was the best.
It was now about 5:00 and time to think about getting on in to Folsom for dinner. We said goodbye to Shawn. Shawn said that this would be a very memorable day for him. I guess that swimming with 3 beautiful women was a much better time that just riding your bike by yourself. I assured the others that we would make it in time, although there were a few moments when I wasn't quite sure. It was hot out, so we first stopped off in Folsom to get sodas and water. Then Bob and Heather needed to find a store to get a new sleeping bag. While they went off to the store, Cora, Jannene, and I stayed at a corner fountain to wait for them.
On the road again, now riding through busy Folsom traffic, I wasn't quite sure of the correct route, as I was just going from memory of a few years ago. I knew that we had to go a few miles and then turn right to cut over towards the Civic Center, but I forgot the name of the road. Luckily, I turned on what turned out to be the correct road, as we came directly to the Civic Center. From here it was just a few more miles along the bike trail up to Folsom Reservoir, camp, and dinner.
We arrived just in time. We rode directly to dinner, getting there after everyone had been through the line, but before all of the food was gone. After dinner, we went to figure out where to camp. There was a limit of 8 people per campsite, and we were last ones in, so we couldn't be choosy. But we found plenty of space in this one site, just below the truck, and it was the same site as Fran and Jeff and Jim. We couldn't have wanted a better site.

This was the first night that Cora enjoyed the entertainment provided near the back of the truck, at Phil's bike repair pit. The Rambouillet was making a knocking sound, and Phil required Cora to make the sounds so that he could figure out what was wrong. Somehow Cora was able to recreate the knocking sound in the roof of her mouth. A quick diagnosis by Phil, and the tightening of the cranks banished the knocking sound.
This was also the first Yoga night. Yoga at the pit and yoga star gazing on the beach. Cora determined that both Guy and I, through many years of cycling, were in desparate need of the balancing effects of yoga.
